juan atkins infiniti project combines raw tactility and puristic elegance with skynet, where slinking grooves mask chaotic frequencies and roughly-hewn structure. alongside fellow detroit legend terrence dixon who appears on several tracks, atkins exposes the life and emotion in machines, outputting a biomorphic atmosphere of industrial soul. the ongoing importance of this album is indisputable, essential both to techno and to tresor.

ltd repress! for their first afro-brazilian compilation the german jazz & milk label teamed up with tahira, one of sao paulo s most active djs andmusiccollectors. levanta poeira (afro-brazilian music & rhythms from 1976 - 2016) highlights a few of his favourite dj pearls and encompasses brazil s various regional musical styles influenced by african and amerindian forms. while most foreign music lovers tend to approach brazilian music by having american music genres such as jazz, soul, funk, disco as a reference, tahira s personal wish was to showcase the rich musical roots and facets of his country by featuring carefully selected artists and bands from the past 4 decades. most of these tracks will be made available on vinyl for the very first time with a highlight certainly being tahira s -a toda menina baiana- remix (vinyl-only) of one of brazil s absolute musical heroes, gilberto gil.

having had a busy 2018 spring/summer season performing at clubs and festivals all across the world, the drum & bass duo spectrasoul return with brand new music to continue the ish chat music saga, picking up from where their critically acclaimed album how we live left off. the silence ep features four hugely in demand tracks that have been making waves during these past months, from the brooding sparseness of untitled horn to the soul searching of faithful, this is yet another essential spectrasoul selection.

love not sex is the second stubb 12inch from paper recordings ben davis. the original is a melancholic slice of sunshine that draws inspiration from mor and blue-eyed soul with a hefty dose of balearica. acoustic guitars, rhodes, live drums and strings plus crazy ps tim davis on bass provide the perfect cinematic backdrop for the plaintive vocals of huw costin (torn sail) and rachel foster. japanese edit hero mori ra delivers his first ever remix and its a doozy. keeping the bones of the original track, he takes it in to dark psychedelic waters with the help of former_airline s tripped out guitar. a spoken vocal tips it in to full balearic wonkiness that will have the likes of dj harvey and bjorn torske getting hot under their disco beards. bergen s leca employs his trademark stripped back crisp production for a warm, dreamy remix. steel guitar, clicks, whirrs and a nordic playfulness make for a cosmic journey in to the northern lights. the 12inch will be a limited run of 300, screen printed in west yorkshire by the egg factory with artwork by artist rachel johns in a project that celebrates community and collectivism.
